Florida Statewide Requirement: Florida requires food handler certification under Florida Statutes §509.049. Every person working in food service in Florida must complete a DBPR-accepted food handler training within 60 days of employment. Cards are valid for 3 years. Unlike most statewide programs, Florida is administered by the Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation rather than a health department.
DBPR-Accepted Courses Only: Florida does not simply accept all ANAB-accredited courses â the specific provider must appear on the current DBPR-approved list. Verify at myfloridalicense.com before purchasing any course.
